FASHION VALLEY FESTIVAL

Gems of Saint Lucia and Vincent McDoom will be presenting the Fashion Valley "Victoire De-La-Mode" International Fashion Festival in Saint Lucia from November 19 - 29, 2014. 

 

The event will be held at the Golden Palm Event Centre, Rodney Bay. 

 

The objectives of the Fashion Festival are motivated by the desire of St. Lucia to showcase its indigenous designs within and outside the Caribbean. This will also usher in the creation and introduction of shopping festivals which are also called trade fairs. Examples of some shopping festivals held around the world are Dubai shopping festival (DSF) started on February 15, 1996, an event geared towards revitalizing retail trade in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, have been promoted as a tourist attraction.

The key contributing factors to this festival will include efforts/initiatives by companies operating on St. Lucia, the St. Lucian fashion industry, support from the government, evolution of domestic fashion designers, as well as brand awareness among consumers.

 

Industry growth in India is mainly driven by the growing exposure of domestic designers at international forums, but growth is also supported by other factors such as the launch of focused business education courses for emerging designers and the establishment of an industry association.

 

This Festival  will serve to boost the tourism sector as a result of increased arrivals from a specific sophisticated niche market.

 

This Festival will give organizers a definite indication in terms of numbers since it will be taking place during the slow tourism period and it will be the dominant activity.

The Managing Director of Golden Plam Event Centre, Allen Chasenet and Gems CEO, Wilson Jn. Baptiste, met in Ottawa and had had a great discussion about the opportunties which this fashion festival could have in Saint Lucia especially in establishing a fashion industry on the island.  With McDoom's celebrity status and fashion expertise, there is much to be gained from this venture.

About Vincent McDoom

Vincent  studied fashion in the United States, through a scholarship from the Cultural Attaché of France in Saint-Lucia. He received a scholarship to study in Paris. He started with an internship at Paco Rabanne, then at Guillemain, Guy Laroche, as well as André Walker. For a short period of time, he was one of the many artistic directors for Louis Vuitton.

 

After 10 years in the profession, he immersed himself in public relations. He was approached by Sabrina Azoulay who appointed him spokesperson.  As such, he started anchoring televised broadcasts.

 

Vincent appears in movies, in a film by Cheik Doukouré, entitled “ Paris selon Moussa.” In 2004, he participated in the real TV broadcast called “La Ferme Célébrités” on TF1, where known personalities learn to live on a farm, taking care of animals and of the land.

Following that, he presents “Arrested development” on TP Star and publishes his biography "L'homme que je suis. “
